Six-monthly regular dental check-ups are important to maintain healthy teeth and gums. During your check-up, your dentist will also scale and polish your teeth.

Scaling removes dental plaque and tartar (plaque that has hardened and cannot be brushed away). This minimises the risk of teeth getting inflamed and prevent problems like gum disease, cavities and decay.

Polishing removes stains caused by food and drinks like coffee and tea. The tooth surface is also smoothen, making it difficult for dental plaque to accumulate. Most scaling and polishing appointments with your friendly community dentist takes only about 15 to 30 minutes.
